Salaries & the cap

The NWSL does not publish player salaries. What it does publish is the cap — so this page inverts the question and models what each player should command.

How the cap works

Every club works to the same base cap, which rises from $3.3m in 2025 toward $5.1m by 2030. There is no maximum individual salary, but every roster spot must be paid at least the league minimum. From 2026 a club may spend up to $1m above the cap on High Impact Players — stars meeting commercial or sporting benchmarks — provided each such contract carries a cap charge of at least 12% of the base cap. Net transfer fees above $500,000 incur a further 25% cap charge on the excess.

Because salaries are private, the figures below are modelled, not reported: the league's published wage pool distributed in proportion to goals added above replacement. They say what the cap implies a player is worth, not what she is paid.
